Many have heard about it, or seen it. Shrinkflation. When normal-sized foods and items decrease in size, for the same original price. All people think it’s a scam, except the stores, who are getting an increased amount of money for smaller or worse quality products.
But, no matter how much customers hate what is happening, they still keep going back. People need resources to survive. All around, people are reporting grocery stores and retail businesses for fraud because of this issue. Even Cookie Monster, the cookie-loving Muppet character, speaks out about Shrinkflation. “Me is hating shrinkflation! Me cookies are getting smaller.”
McAuliffe Social Worker Molly Lacy says “Shrinkflation is causing our groceries at home to be gone after only a few days! It’s causing us to have to spend more and more money every week.”
