All About Anne Frank

All+About+Anne+Frank

Annelies Marie Frank was a Jewish,  German girl who had lived her life in captivity under Nazi hold in the second world war where she was thrown in a concentration camp where she was when she died. But the only reason why she is known to this day is for her diary. Her diary described her everyday life when she was hiding in an attic in Amsterdam with her family for two years. Her diary was turned into a novel in 1947 which was three years after she had stopped writing and two years after she had died at the age of only 15. Her diary is one of the most known books to this day with several plays and films.

On November 1st, 1944, Anne and her sister, Margot, were transferred from Auschwitz to Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, where they died (presumably of typhus) a few months later. The only survivor of the family was Anne’s father, Otto Frank went back to Amsterdam and found his secretaries. He decided to fulfill his daughter’s wish to become a writer. He published her diary. It was translated from its original Dutch version and first published in English in 1952 as The Diary of a Young Girl, and has since been translated into over 70 languages.
After moving to Amsterdam, Anne and Margot Frank were enrolled in school, Margot in public school, and Anne in the 6th Montessori School. Anne joined the 6th Montessori School on 9 April 1934; in 1957, it was renamed “Anne Frank School”.

In May 1940, Germany invaded the Netherlands, and the occupation government began to persecute Jews by the implementation of restrictive and discriminatory laws; mandatory registration and segregation soon followed. Otto Frank tried to arrange for the family to emigrate to the United States, the only destination that seemed to him to be viable, but Frank’s application for a visa was never processed, because the U.S. consulate in Rotterdam was destroyed in the German bombing on 14 May 1940, resulting in the loss of all the paperwork there, including the family’s visa application.

Therefore, it was shown that Annelies Marie Frank showed her courage in the face of the Nazi persecution of Jews during World War II. which is what makes her so well known to this day.
