Jamal Murray and MPJ Stepping It Up

Nash Bischoff, Sports Reporter

Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. are both recovering from season-ending injuries from last year, Murray suffered an ACL tear on April 12th, 2021 in San Francisco, and MPJ injured his back on November 6th, 2021 in Denver. Murray has been seen collecting his “swagger” back and looks ready to return for another season of basketball. MPJ is just trying to stay healthy and get back to his normal self, he’s also feeling great but he just wants to be healthy going into the season and not re-injure himself.n The Nuggets GM (Calvin Booth) is almost positive that both of the players are going to be healthy heading into the 2022-2023 season.

Murray has been with the Nuggets since 2016, he was drafted in the 1st round with the 7th overall pick, and MPJ was drafted in 2018 with the 1st round 14th overall pick. MPJ’s rookie year was held back by an injury that kept him out of the whole 2018-2019 season. Murray has been a game changer throughout his 5 seasons with the Nuggets averaging 16.3 points per game. The Nuggets also have the 2-time reigning NBA MVP in Nikola Jokic, Jokic and Murray have always had a lot of chemistry between them, so it was a tough 2021-2022 season without Murray for Jokic. Murray is 25 years old and MPJ is 24, so the Nuggets have two pretty young talented players that both want to get back out on the court.

It’s clear though that all Denver fans want Murray and MPJ to perform well in this next upcoming season, and the Nuggets are one of the best teams in the Western Conference, and Murray and MPJ would just make them even more dominant in their tough conference. The Nugget’s first preseason game is October 3rd, and their first regular season game is October 19th against the Jazz.
