The NFL has always let the kicker kick the ball wherever they want but now that has changed. According to the text NFL Football Operations they state the new NFL rule “Finally, kickers can’t kick the ball too deep. The resulting touch back for kicks in the end zone is the 30 yard line, versus the 25 yard line in 2023. With the incentives of the new kickoff and this data, kickers are expected to aim their kicks towards the back of the landing zone and force a run.” This new rule is going to change the NFL because now they have a better chance at scoring from a touch back now since they are “forced” to return the kick and the NFL is gonna have some closer games and higher scoring points.
