NBA Decision-Making This Offseason

Nba players and franchises have made some pretty big decisions that could change the scales for predictions of the 22-23 season. These players and franchises made decisions-some questionable, some more beneficial for the long term.

Karl Anthony Towns signed a 224 million dollar supermax extension with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Devin Booker, the leader of the Phoenix Suns, signed a 224 million dollar supermax extension with the Phoenix Suns. Nikola Jokic, 2-time league MVP, signed a record-breaking 264 million dollar supermax extension with the Denver Nuggets. Ja Morant, the leader of the Memphis Grizzlies, signed a 226 million dollar supermax extension. LeBron James, the King, signed a 97.1 million extension with the Los Angeles Lakers. There hasn’t been anything too notable as far as extensions go, with the exception of Nikola Jokic.

Earlier this year, Kevin Durant requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets, listing the Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat as his preferred destinations. However, his superstar teammate, Kyrie Irving opted to use his player option this year. The Boston Celtics, who had an amazing season, wanted to trade Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart for Kevin Durant but the Nets wanted to take Jayson Tatum for Kevin Durant. While the trade rumors were legitimate earlier, they are more of history now.  And maybe the most important signing this season, Kawhi Leanard signed with the LA Clippers, suddenly making the Clippers one of the favorites for winning the Western Conference. Some are also saying that the Los Angeles Lakers may be a good team this year as LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook promised to “make it work”.

Because of this offseason, we will have a fun season and playoffs. Will we see the Curry vs Kawhi matchup again? Will we see the Nets raising up the East? Or will LeBron get his 5th ring? And most importantly, will the Nuggets raise themselves to the level that everyone’s expecting them to be at?

We can only watch.
