Researchers state that when cleaning hardwood floors a mop is more beneficial than a broom because the broom causes more dust to fly into the air.
This is because experts state that the bristles on the average broom have bristles that have a plastic and rubber feeling which flicks them into the air. Furthermore, when someone uses a broom the bristles have the potential to scratch or damage the finish on hardwood floors.
Depending on the type of floor being cleaned, a dry mop is beneficial for picking up dirt and any type of pet hair. Also, a dry mop doesn’t just push the dirt and debris around like a broom but attracts dirt to the bottom of the mop. A wet mop soaks up chemicals and dirt into the mop. But if there isn’t time to take out a mop, and a broom is on hand, a broom will do the job.
In conclusion, a mop is more useful than a broom but if you’re in a hurry the broom will work!
