Students Using AI in School

Students Using AI in School

Many students across the United States have begun to use AI to help them write their essays. While it may be a good idea to use it as a support like checking grammar, turning in an entirely AI-generated essay may not be a good idea.

A big worry about using AI is the plagiarism aspect of it. Although it is not being stolen from one person, the work handed in by the student is not their own as they are claiming it to be. Therefore, using only AI to write things for you still counts as plagiarism.

Another worry from teachers is the biases and misinformation that the AI takes from an unreliable source and transfers into the essay. AI cannot filter out untrue information and will put in whatever information it finds. This makes it difficult to get a completely true and unbiased piece of writing that was written by AI.

Since using AI to write things for students is plagiarism and has a high risk of being incorrect, it is better and safer if students don’t use it.
