Criticism Towards Trans/Non-Binary Youth

Criticism+Towards+Trans%2FNon-Binary+Youth

Many people around the world have decided to criticize transgender people for just being who they want to be. But recently, It has become worse. Currently, 17 out of the 50 states in the U.S.A, which is 34%, have enacted dehumanizing laws that target transgender people. Laws that ban trans people from playing co-ed sports or accessing gender-affirming healthcare for minors have been created; most banning the use of hormone therapy and puberty blockers.

Hormone therapy allows transgender individuals acquire physical traits that match their gender identity. Puberty Blockers prevent puberty from happening. They function by blocking hormones — estrogen and testosterone — that lead to puberty-related side effects in your body like: periods and breast growth, for people who were assigned female at birth, and voice-deepening and facial hair growth, for people assigned male at birth.

“HCPLive.com” quotes, “Suicide Risk Reduces 73% in Transgender, Non-binary Youths with Gender-Affirming Care.” That means that 73% of the Transgender and Non-binary youth population did not feel suicidal BECAUSE of the gender-affirming healthcare they were able to receive; which is the reason why it is called “life-saving.”

Lawmakers should not have the authority to make these laws because they are NOT doctors that specialize in this healthcare. They do not know anything about this healthcare! So why are they making these laws? Telling trans youth that they are bad just because they want to be who they are is not right!  I have 1st hand experience with this criticism because I am trans, and trust me; it didn’t make me feel good. If you do not support transgender people existing, then that is fine! Just do not make it known because it can make them feel sad.
