The Orphanage

The Orphanage

One day a 10 year old child named Jacob was found on the porch of an orphanage. There was a crumpled and weathered piece of paper in his hand. He was holding it so tightly all of the blood stopped circulating in his hand. Then the boy threw the note away right before two women stepped out onto the porch, wood panels creaking with their weight. One of the two women was tall and skinny and the other one was short and fat. The tall ones name was Joselyn while the short ones name was Rosette. They looked down at the boy, but he was gone. They searched all over the house, but they couldn’t find him. The only things they found were a stuffed rabbit, a sock, and a box of matches. They were particularly careful not to touch the matches because they were both deathly afraid of fire, even tiny little matches. Finally, they resorted to looking in the place they had both been avoiding in their search; the cellar. Rosette tried to deny that he could get in the cellar to avoid going there, but eventually obliged and walked over to the door where Joselyn was standing in wait for her. They slowly creeped down the rickety stairs one by one. The stairs creaked loudly and when they finally got to the bottom they saw a tiny light like a gas lamp in the far corner of the room. They crept forward, but still couldn’t make out what the light was coming from. Suddenly, the light, which they now realized was a fire, blazed all around them in a giant ring. They turned circles trying to find a way out when they saw a figure approaching them, a clown mask covering its face. It took the mask off and they realized that it was the little boy and in a barely audible voice, he said, “Peek-A-Boo.” The two women made a wish with their last breath; please let us live we want to make a full life and not die. “Be careful what you wish for,” the little boy said. The next morning the two women awoke to the sound of little feet shuffling around them. Joselyn opened her eyes and screamed. All of the children in the orphanage were walking around in a circle with their heads hung at an inhuman angle. Joselyn’s scream woke up Rosette who also screamed at the terror inducing sight. The kids slowly started lifting their heads up one by one revealing faces that looked like they had been ravaged by wolves. They slowly started smiling and their teeth grew at the same speed as their smiles crept up on their faces. Then they attacked.
