Robert Card is the main suspect as the state-wide manhunt intensifies as 18 people have died and up to 20 are in the hospital. Robert Card was seen entering the Just-In-Time recreation bowling alley where he killed 7, and then seen entering Schemengees Bar and Grille where 8 people were pronounced dead. Later 3 people died in the hospital and many others are still in critical condition. As the manhunt intensifies state police are enforcing shelter-in-place orders in Lewiston and Auburn. Many residents in the surrounding areas are encouraged to be careful, as Robert Card is armed and dangerous.
Maine police state that “more than 100 investigators, both local and federal” are looking for Robert. At this time, “Several of the deceased have been identified and their family’s next of kin has been notified. Approximately eight people at this point have been identified. Ten people, 10 of these victims, still need to be identified at this time. Currently, there is an arrest warrant for eight counts of murder for Mr. Card.” Maine police state. Robert Card will soon be wanted for 18 counts of murder when the rest of the deceased have been identified. The police leading this manhunt urge the public to not approach Card if you spot him, and instead call 911.
The suspect of these shootings had been reporting mental issues and was in the army reserve. Robert Card was a gun instructor and was very knowledgeable about guns. The suspect remains at large as President Biden has been briefed on the matter.
