Taylor Swift, one of the most celebrated artists in the world, made a record-breaking album, Midnights. Midnights was released on October 21, 2022, and broke many records, including being number 1 on Billboard for 12 weeks and breaking the record for 228 million streams on Spotify, previously held by Drake.

Midnights is one of the most celebrated albums, with 13 tracks on the regular album, and in the 3 am edition, there are 20 tracks. Taylor invited Ice Spice and Lana Del Rey to collaborate on songs; Ice Spice did “Karma,” and Lana Del Rey did “Snow on Beach.” Most songs talk about romantic encounters like “Mastermind,” where she sang about planning all her encounters with a guy, quoting herself as the “Mastermind.”  “Anti-Hero,” on the other hand, is about Taylor’s insecurities, “Sometimes I feel like everyone is a sexy baby, and I’m a monster on the hill.” In these specific lyrics, she is talking about her insecurities about how she looks and how she thinks she looks.

But what was the inspiration for Midnights? Taylor quoted “stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life.” Which is a collection of music written in the middle of the night, hence her saying “sleepless night.”  Unlike other albums, she gave this album a profound meaning with many of her personal feelings and quotes, “ a journey through terrors and sweet dreams.” This album turned out great despite all of the emotions and sleepless nights Taylor went through to make it great.

But was all of the effort and emotions worth it? Taylor gets a lot of hate from people, but the people who give her the hate don’t understand what she goes through just to put another album out there. Midnights was probably one of her most thoughtful and well-written albums, with all the connections to her insecurities.
