Taylor’s Version

Taylor Swift started creating her own version of her albums because of the lack of control with her former record label producer, Scooter Baun. Taylor felt she was being forced to sing instead of singing for passion. She worked long hours recording songs repeatedly without guaranteeing where they would go. She believes that every artist wants to have control of their music. She wants other artists to speak up and start demanding a change in the relationship between singer and producer.

In November 2020, Scooter reportedly sold Taylor’s masters to an investment fund, Shamrock Holdings, for over $300 million. Taylor had no say in this and realized that she was incapable of having an opinion on this.  Owning her master means Swift can control how those particular versions of the songs are used, like granting permission for the music to appear in advertising.

According to MusicRow, “ Taylor Swift’s ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’ Release Makes Spotify History. Taylor Swift made Spotify history on Friday (July 7, 2023) with the release of the re-recorded version of her album Speak Now, which unveiled a few tracks “from the vault” along with the project’s original songs.”

At the Eras Tour, she released her new 1989 (Taylor Version). Fans now look up to her because of her success and independence. The Eas tour was a big deal in many ways. It was loud and exciting. Fans came from all over the country to watch her perform.

Taylor Swift is a big deal. However, most importantly, she is a big influence on others. She always leaves a mark, whether helping fans and her community or producing her own music.
