Mr. Irrelevant Brock Purdy made his first NFC conference title game against the Eagles on Sunday, January 29th. He could not carry the 49ers to the Super Bowl because he got hurt in the first quarter with an elbow injury by Haasan Redick, but when Purdy came back he could not throw the ball and it was too late to mount a comeback. The end score was 31-7 Eagles. Purdy as a starter was 7-1 and started his career going on a 7-game win streak.

Purdy was the last pick in the 2022 draft class to make the 49er’s Super Bowl run even more incredible. He was born in 1999 he is 23 years old. He was born in Queen Creek, Arizona, and is the middle child of Carrie and Shawn Purdy. Shawn was a Minor League Baseball player for eight seasons. Brock went to Iowa State University where he was one of the best quarterbacks at their college, with the school’s all-time passing yards record and passing touchdown record.

Ever since the 49ers drafted Purdy, nobody thought he was going to be anything but a backup quarterback in the NFL  Fast forward to week 13 and he replaced Jimmy Garaplao and carried the Niners past the dolphins to a 33-17 win.  He has been the starting quarterback the rest of the season and has thrown for 1,374 passing yards, 13 touchdowns, 1 rushing touchdown, and 4 interceptions. Purdy has put all the doubters past him and is putting himself in the record books with what he has done this season. There is still a long successful road for Mr. Irrelevant Brock Purdy.
