The Race For the #1 Seed in the NFC

The Race For the #1 Seed in the NFC

The Vikings and the Eagles are racing against each other; Philadelphia has a record of 11-1 and Minnesota has a record of 10-2, both teams are hoping for a bye week heading into the playoffs which is attained by being the #1 seed in the conference. At this moment with both teams coming off of a hard-fought win (Eagles beat the Packers: 40-33, and Vikings beat Patriots: 33-26) the race for the #1 seed is closer than ever. Although, the Eagles have two advantages over the Vikings right now: 1 game ahead (1 more win and 1 less loss) and they also have already beaten the Vikings 24-7. You could definitely say the Eagles are better than the Vikings just based on that performance, but like I said the Eagles are only one game ahead of the Vikings and that could easily change on any week. After the Eagles beat the Packers, it seems they have the edge with a pretty easy schedule up ahead. Their only very tough challenge is against the Dallas Cowboys (9-3) on Christmas Eve, and the Cowboys are right behind the Eagles in their division.

Even if the Eagles earn the #1 seed in the NFC, the Vikings are set up for the #2 seed which is pretty good even without the bye week going into the playoffs. If the Vikings finish with the #2 seed in the NFC that will be their first time doing so since the 2017-2018 season (fun fact: in the 2017-2018 season the Eagles were the #1 seed and the Vikings were the #2 seed even though they finished with the same record). At this time the Eagles aren’t just #1 in the NFC, they are #1 in the NFL, and the Vikings are #2 in the NFL. The majority of the Vikings games have been extremely close with all of their wins being one-score games with the exception of Green Bay which was a two-score differential.

This race is going to be exciting. No matter which team comes out on top, both of these teams have performed great throughout the season. You can look forward to their upcoming games, Vikings are going against the Detroit Lions (5-7) in Detroit at 11:00 am, and the Eagles are playing the New York Giants (7-4-1) also at 11:00 am and in New York.
