The 41-year-old man from France is widely known as one of the greatest Free-Ride Tour and even has a pair of snow skis named after him. For those who do not know, the free-ride world tour competitions are hard to get into and are very technical, with steep runs with extreme cliffs. Only the best big mountain skiers in the world are invited to compete.   

Candide Thovex is also a filmmaker and an entrepreneur. The movies he has produced are about freeskiing and the accomplishments he has made over his skiing career. His first great accomplishment was when he hit a jump called Chad’s Gap. Chads Gap is a massive transfer jump of 120 feet from take-off to landing over a 40-foot-deep gully in Alta, Utah. This stunt made Candide well-known throughout the skiing community.

Candide Thovex also had his first professional sponsorship in 1997, at the age of 15.  2002 was a very busy year for him. Thovex was constantly filming with his own production company and with others. He continued competing and his contest results remained solid, dominating the Big Air events, winning two in New Zealand, one in Lebanon, and another in Switzerland. He earned 2 podiums at the US Open(2nd place in Superpipe, and 3rd place in Slopestyle.)
