MJ, or Michael Jordan, is widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time. He played 15 seasons in the NBA, mostly for the Chicago Bulls, and won six championships, six Finals MVPs, five regular-season MVPs, and many other awards and honors. He also holds the NBA record for the highest career scoring average of 30.1 points per game. Some of his most notable achievements are: he led the Bulls to two three-peats (1991–1993 and 1996–1998), becoming the only player in NBA history to win three consecutive Finals MVPs twice. He scored 5,987 points in 179 playoff games, the most in NBA history. He also holds the record for the most points in a single playoff game, with 63 against the Boston Celtics in 1986. He won 10 scoring titles, the most in NBA history, and seven of them consecutively from 1986 to 1993. He also averaged at least 30 points per game in eight seasons, tied with Wilt Chamberlain for the most in NBA history. He was the first player to win the regular-season MVP, the Finals MVP, and the Defensive Player of the Year awards in the same season (1987–1988). He also made nine All-Defensive First Team selections, the second-most in NBA history behind Tim Duncan and Kobe Bryant. He was selected for 14 All-Star games and won three All-Star MVPs. He also participated in three Slam Dunk Contests and won two of them (1987 and 1988). He was a member of the 1984 and 1992 U.S. Olympic basketball teams that won gold medals. He was also part of the original Dream Team in 1992, considered the greatest basketball team ever assembled. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009. He was also named one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History in 1996 and the greatest North American athlete of the 20th century by ESPN in 1999.
