Recently controversy between the most decorated American gymnast, Simone Biles, and NFL star Jonathan Ownes for who is the better catch, took over social media after an interview on “The Pivot” podcast. 

          Jonathan Owens, Green Bay Packers safety, receives backlash after stating that he had no idea who the gold medal gymnast was before their meeting on a dating app. He believed that “men are the catch in relationships” and that he was the catch at the beginning of their relationship. Considering how well known his wife is this caught the attention of many critics who commented on his posts about his behavior during the interview. 

          Channing Crowder, a member of “The Pivot” podcast, hosts Simone and Jonathan on December 19th. He started the interview by asking, “How the H*ll did you pull Simone Biles” they laughed and he said “Really how did she pull me? That’s the question.” Later on, Jonathan reflects on how he felt when she first messaged him stating that he saw how many followers she had and saying that she had to be good. Simone drove over 40 minutes just to see him while he was afraid of committing to a relationship, it wasn’t until they went out in public that he realized how famous she was.

          Jonathan posts a photo of him and his wife with the caption “Unbothered, Just know we locked in over here.” Simone also responds to the backlash her husband receives by reposting from a 3 am thoughts page saying “To my man: I just want to tell you that I love you the most and I will continue to love you. I will always stand by you. I will always be there for you. I am so proud of everything that you’ve accomplished and what you’re about to accomplish, Thank you for loving me.” 

So who’s the better catch in this marriage?
