McAuliffe’s Favorite School Lunches

McAuliffes+Favorite+School+Lunches

Many people don’t like school lunches, but others love them and get them daily. You probably have had a school lunch at McAuliffe, but which one do students like the most? To answer this question, we interviewed 40 students or staff. The most popular choices were pizza, thanksgiving lunch, tacos, and potstickers.

Eight students chose pizza as their favorite school lunch with 22.2% of the vote. The school serves this regularly every Tuesday and Thursday. It’s from Blackjack Pizza and the cafeteria offers cheese or pepperoni pizza. This is a favored choice because it tastes fabulous, is consistent, and usually is hot.

Seven students we interviewed chose Potstickers as their favorite school lunch and ruled 19.4% of votes. They were served a few weeks ago and it was one of the favorites of the students in third place overall. Many students have said that they hope these delicious dumplings will return in the future.

Only 5 students chose Tacos as their favorite school lunch with 13.9% of votes. Tacos are served occasionally in the cafeteria at lunchtime. One student we interviewed strongly felt that tacos were the best school lunch. They encouraged many other students we interviewed to choose tacos as well, including Mr. Johnson, the 8th-grade principal, who mentioned that he misses the chicken wings the most.

Last but not least, Thanksgiving lunch was the most loved by students with 11 votes. This is equivalent to 30.6% of the students we interviewed. Thanksgiving lunch is sadly only served once a year around the time of the holiday. It is typically served with turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables, and carrot cake as dessert. Many students said the carrot cake was their favorite part of the lunch. The beloved Thanksgiving meal will be missed until next time in the fall holiday season!

Additionally, 13.9% of students said they bring their lunch from home. This is the best choice for people with allergies or students who don’t like the school lunch. The school lunch can’t always accommodate those with allergies, so they have to bring lunch from home. Others prefer bringing lunch from home because they can do it and like it more. However, many students still enjoy the school lunch, with Thanksgiving lunch being the fan favorite!
