Pizza: The Greatest Dish Ever

Pizza. It is a global classic celebrated worldwide, with so many different styles and toppings that speak for themselves. It tastes good no matter where you eat it or get it from, but not a single country has better pizza than Italy and America.

Italy is the birthplace of pizza, specifically Naples, Italy. The original Italian pizza is small, with a thin crust, and tastes best when prepared with mozzarella cheese, basil, tomatoes, and even olive oil. If you ever go to Italy, make sure you savor pizza because it is the most flavorful pizza in the world.

American pizza is large and greasy, and you can take it wherever. It is very easy to find pizza because of billion-dollar pizza companies like Dominoes, Pizza Hut, Little Caesars, Papa John’s, etc. There are also frozen pizza companies like DiGiorno in almost every grocery store in the country.

In the spring of 1958 in Wichita, Kansas, a place called Pizza Hut was founded. It was a huge success, started by Dan and Frank Carney, and it started an over $800 billion empire of pizza. As of 2024, Pizza Hut has over 19,000 locations in the world. It is the biggest pizza franchise in the world and will continue to give quality pizza to people worldwide!

Pizza Hut’s rival, Domino’s, is a company based out of Michigan. Their headquarters is in Ann Arbor, but back in 1960 when Domino’s was founded, it was in Ypsilante (ip-suh-lan-tee). This business also took off internationally. There are more than 20,000 locations worldwide and has a net worth of around $14 billion.

Pizza is cheesy, it is simple, and it tastes really good. This small dish from Italy turned global in less than a century, and now, every single person in the world knows what pizza is. About 5 billion pizzas are sold worldwide annually, and about 3 billion pizzas are sold in the U.S. annually. It will forever go down as the single greatest dish ever created. And comment on your favorite pizza company!
