Colorado’s plan for statewide transportation

Colorados plan for statewide transportation

Colorado Department of Transportation is introducing the Active Transportation Plan which envisions a safe, comfortable, and connected network and highlights opportunities and implementation strategies to improve active transportation across the Denver region. They plan that every four to five years, CDOT will update the Statewide Transportation Plan, and establish the framework for creating an integrated statewide transit system that meets the mobility needs of Colorado citizens. CDOT’s Division of Transit and Rail developed this plan according to all CDOT and Federal Transit Administration planning requirements. CDOT, in coordination with public, private, and non-profit transit and human services agencies across the state, will use this Plan to prioritize transit investments and work toward the long-term implementation of the state’s transit vision and goals. They envision that the statewide plan is trying to consider the needs of all people. They think that all people should have convenient and affordable access to jobs, medical services, education, grocery shopping, and social and recreational activities. Equitable access to resources regardless of economic status, age, and ability positively influences personal health and quality of life.
