Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase

Taylor Holthus, Writer

Nancy Drew and The Hidden Staircase was a fascinating story for me. I found it interesting and hard to put down. Nancy Drew is a classic book and I would give it a good 10/10. I would recommend it to 9 years and older. Even adults because it is a truly amazing book.

Nancy Drew lives in a boring and dull town and when she finally finds a case she can work on, she gets straight to it. She soon meets a rude visitor who needs to work on paperwork with Nancy’s Father. Nancy gets upset and sends him away with a threat to call the police. Soon after she leaves for the Turnbull sister’s mansion were odd, and paranormal things are happening. Things go missing, and strange things happen. Also, the ‘Rude visitor’ is also in the area, Nathan Gombet. Nancy is convinced that Gombet is causing the problem but she needs evidence. Nathan tells Nancy’s father that Nancy was in a terrible accident but once Mr. Drew arrives, he is held captive. After Nathan’s servant almost catches Nancy, she escapes into a room where she is locked in by accident. She finds a staircase that leads to underground tunnels that lead to where her father is being kept. Nancy calls the police and gets her father out and Nathan, who had been the one who was causing trouble and stealing things so that he could scare off the Turnbull sisters, arrested.

There are multiple movies and books for “The Hidden Staircase” but Nancy Drew is a series! This means that there are more books like, “The Secret of the Old Clock”, “The Bungalow Mystery”, and “The Mystery at Lilac Inn”. They are all GREAT books!
