Casa Bonita Files for Bankruptcy

Rachel Schutt, Writer

Casa Bonita is an iconic restaurant in Lakewood, Colorado that shut its doors in March 2020 due to the Covid 19 pandemic. On April 6, 2021, Casa Bonita filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Casa Bonita gathered its nationwide fame for its cliff diving entertainment inside of the restaurant. It was the subject of a 2003 episode of South Park, season 7 episode 11. Even the Denver Broncos announced some of their draft picks from Casa Bonita in 2018. They put up tons of Christmas lights every year to illuminate the restaurant in the winter and it is really a sight to see. Casa Bonita’s food isn’t too good but it’s more about the experience than the food. They have black bart’s cave, the pinata parties, a gold mine, and a concert hall but don’t forget the cliff diver’s and the little skits. With almost 7,000 google reviews Casa Bonita is a site to behold.

A man by the name of Andrew Novick is attempting to save this famous restaurant. This Colorado native has claimed to have visited this restaurant over 300 times since it opened back in 1974. He has raised over 25,000 dollars to save Casa Bonita but he is well short of his 100 thousand dollar target.
