Capture the Flag: The Blood War

Straton Geddes, Writer

“It’s the red team. Charge!” Juan screamed as they saw the red team come up to their territory. Sam already knew this would happen. Every time the red team places their flag, right after they send around 10 people to try to get the blue flag. Juan and Sam led the charge, and the rest of the team followed. All of a sudden, Sam stopped. He remembered, this is how his brother died. The red team decided to hold off their charge until the other team thought it wouldn’t happen. You can come back to camp now, you’ve fully recovered,” Breydon replied. Sam followed Breydon back to their camp. He looked around, and found blood everywhere. Barely any green showed on the thick meadow. “How many people died?” Sam asked. Juan walked up behind the boys. “10 of us, 3 of them,” He said, looking over at reds camp. Sam looked around, and saw 10 blue jerseys, lying on the ground, stained with blood. 3 red jerseys were propped up on tree branches, covered with the most blood. “Oh wow,” Sam thought, looking at the bloodstained jerseys…
