Kanye West asks for joint custody, no spousal support in response to Kim Kardashian’s divorce filing as of April 12, 2021. So far, infamous rapper Kanye west is moving forward with his divorce with famous beauty guru and reality tv show star Kim Kardashian, the couple filed for divorce in early february after almost 7.5 years of marriage. According to a legal response filed by West’s attorney, on Monday, the 12th, West, requested joint legal and physical custody of their children: daughters North, 7, and Chicago, 3, and sons Saint, 5, and Psalm, who will turn 2 in May. Divorce attorney Laura Wasser claimed that, “at first Kanye was just fine with Kim taking full custody of the kids, but something must have changed.”

The split between the two came after a period last summer when the couple was not on great terms, before reconnecting over the summer and spending private time together with their children. Their attorney added, “They are just not on the same page when it comes to their future as a family, and Kim is okay with it.” The two have been living on their own for a couple of months now, Kim has continued to live in her 60M dollar mansion in the hills while West has been living on his farm in Montana, Kim taking full custody of the kids over this time.  Problems arose though, when West asked for the court’s right to award spousal support for either person to be terminated, the filing says.

Kim Kardashian partly said she’s not willing to share custody of the children due to Kanye’s “past”. She added that she was afraid they would possibly be neglected or be un-supervised most of the time. Kim said that if she ever needs anything from any of her sisters, Kendall, Kylie, Khloe, and Kourtney, they are always there to watch her kids whenever she needs it, and “who is going to do that for Kanye? He is always busy with friends, or with producers and sometimes he forgets we have 4 kids who are always needing attention 24/7.” Sources added that Kim was feeling more than “disappointed” that she and West couldn’t make their marriage work.

Kanye’s argument was that he should be able to have custody of his kids because they are HIS kids, he argued its not good for him or his children if they never see each other, he added, “I would feel horrible if my kids remember growing up without a father figure in the home, and if I have the option to try to see my kids, I am going to fight for it no matter what Kim says.” The public thinks that it’s more than fair if they switch off kids every week, Kim gets 2 kids for her week and Kanye gets the other 2 kids for the same week. “I think the most important thing I learned through my experience, both of my experiences, is that the kids come first,” says Jenner, who shared four kids with her late first husband Robert Kardashian, “and that’s what’s important in life.”
