In an interview with Oprah Winfrey broadcasted in March, 2021 Meghan Markle the Duchess Of Sussex and her husband Prince Harry Duke of Sussex shocked not only Great Britain, but the whole world, as they exposed the royal family for being racist against Meghan Markle and her child. Meghan Markle is biracial, and is mixed with black(from her mother) and white (from her father.)

Meghan Markle was born in America and was married into the family. In the beginning of her royal term she was criticized for this by British tabloids and everyday British people. In their interview they explain why they left the royals. Meghan Markle talked about how she had conversations with the royals about what the skin color of her child would look like. She also explained that her son was not protected by the royals because of Meghan Markle being biracial. Markle talked about how during her time as a ruler she felt mentally exhausted and trapped. She even said that royal life made her suicidal. “I was ashamed to admit it to Harry,” she said of her suicidal thought. “I knew that if I didn’t say it, I would do it, I just didn’t want to be alive anymore.”

Although this was very surprising, many people offered support towards Meghan. “I feel like that was heartbreaking to hear, that she felt like she was in her own family — her own family thought differently of her. As I said before, race isn’t a new construct in this world for people of color, and so it wasn’t a complete surprise to hear her feelings and to have them articulated,” Former first lady of the United States Michelle Obama said in an interview with Jenna Bush Hager from the Today show. While some people were in support of Meghan Markle others criticized Megan. Sharon Osbourne, host of the show called “The Talk”, went under fire after supporting her friend Piers Morgan, who was dismissive of the racial claims made by Meghan Markle. At the end of the day, this interview turned many heads with about 17 million viewers when the interview was aired.
