A new study shown in the UK found 97% of women from ages 18-24 have encountered sexual harassment over the past couple of years in public areas. This data was collected from a survey made by YouGov , with over 1,000 women taking the survey in January of 2021. The research also showed as quoted people have a, “lack of faith in authorities” as 45 % women stated they didn’t feel reporting the harassment would change much.

Claire Barnett executive director of U.N women states, “This is a human rights crisis. Its not just enough for us to keep saying, ‘this is too difficult of a problem for us to solve.’” The organization also added they need a better system to report abuse as it is down in many public places, even offices and schools.
