A Catastrophe With a Purrfect Ending

A Thai Navy soldier saved four kittens on March 4, 2021, when their ship went down in flames off of the coast of a paradise island. The ship had twelve occupants; four of which were stowaways. When the boat caught fire, the eight people made it safely onto a nearby Navy ship but nobody knew about the four kittens who needed a miracle to survive.

Luckily, the miracle came when the Navy soldiers who had saved the crew members started to investigate the sinkage and look for oil spills. “I used my camera to zoom in to the boat, and I saw one or two cats popping their heads out,” First-Class Petty Officer Wichit Pukdeelon said. The kittens were huddled together on a sinking wooden beam, looking wet and frightened. This news traveled fast around the ship and a sailor put on a life vest and swam out to the boat. He put three cats in a sack and kept them over the water and put the fourth one on his shoulder.

These four kittens made it back to land safely and pictures on social media show them with towels and big bowls of cat food. They are now being cared for by the Navy rescuers on the island, Koh Lipe. This brave man risked his life to save four kittens who needed help. And he has shown that anyone can make a difference for the better, whether it’s saving one kitten or four.
