Capture the Flag: The Start

Capture the Flag: The Start

Straton Geddes, Writer

At each team’s side, there were 25 chests: One for each person. Sam ran to the biggest one, and found what looked like enough food for 10 days, a shield, body armor, a sword, and a bow with 24 arrows. Sam put on the body armor, hung the bow and arrows on his back, placed the shield on his arm, and held his sword. Each team came with an elected team captain, and Sam’s team captain was a large dude named Juan. Right now, he was digging through his chest, designated for team captain. In the team captain’s chest stood the team’s flag. You were supposed to hide the flag. “Hey Sam,” Juan said. “Come take the flag and hide it somewhere in the forest, then tell us where it is so we can guard it.” Sam nervously crept towards Juan and shakily took the flag. Every year the flag was different, and this year, Their flag was blue and white striped with 2 people fighting on it. Under that was the word “Blue”. Sam found the tallest tree, and climbed up to as far as he could. He was an expert tree climber, and could climb very high because he weighed very little. He also assumed that the red team could never climb this high because they were so big. There are only 2 rules for placing the flag. 1: It has to be visible in some way. 2: once the flag is placed, you cannot move it. Same placed the flag at the very top of the tree where it was visible. Immediately, the big robot voice says, “Blue’s Flag has been placed.” About 10-15 seconds after that, the robot voice says “Red’s flag has been placed.” Time to start. Sam sprints back and tells Juan where that flag is. He sends the next biggest 2 dudes to guard it. Right after that, the cannon that marks a death booms out, and it shows the picture of Jordan. “How did he die?” Sam asks. “I guess we’ll never know,” Juan replies. Sam squints out into the field. “Hey, Juan, what’s that?” He asks. Juan looks at the distance. “It’s the red team. Everybody, charge!” Juan screams.
