By: Scarlett Lutz

Since Deshaun Watson was drafted, in 2017, fans knew this was a good pick for the Houston Texans, after picking him in the first round, 12th overall. Watson Played for the Clemson Tigers, and graduated in 2016 after leading his team to, and winning the national title.

After the Houston Texans, hired former Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio as their general manager, Watson was upset with the hiring process. According to ESPN, “Watson’s frustration with the Texans’ organization started in March when the team traded wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals for running back David Jhonson without letting the quarterback know about the deal before it happened.” Because of this, Watson Now says he wants out of Houston and would like to be traded to a different team.

The Denver Broncos have not gone to the playoffs, since they won the super bow in 2015. After the victory, quarterback Peyton Manning announced his retirement. Broncos General Manager John Elway was then in a search for a new quarterback, and after many attempts, he drafted quarterback Drew Lock in the second round in the 2019 NFL draft. Many fans thought that this would be the team’s franchise QB. After Lock hurt his thumb in one of the preseason games, Lock was told he would be out for most of the season. Luckily, in the off-season, the team had signed veteran quarterback Joe Flaco, who they had planned to have started the season. After Lock recovered, he made his debut, where they took out the LA chargers, and then the Houston Texans the next weekend, which shocked the league. Going into the 2020-21 season, Broncos fans were excited to see what their team would do this year. The team then went on, to finish the season with another losing record.

After Watson said he would like to be traded, many teams grew interested in the young QB. On March 16th, Watson stated that he would like to play for the San Fransisco 49ers, or the Denver Broncos. With the Broncos hiring a new General Manager in the offseason, George Paton, fans are excited to see what moves the team will make next.
