What is the Best Ski Resort to Ski?

Katie Casey, Writer

I LOVE to ski. It is one of my favorite things to do. Correction: It IS my favorite thing to do. What is your favorite thing to do? Do you ski or snowboard? If you do, there is one big thing you need to be able to do so. A resort. Now, there are different passes people have to ski. I personally have the Epic pass, so these are specific resorts that I can go to. If you have the Icon pass or any other pass, the resorts I review may not be valid for you. Also, Epic has many resorts that are far away from Denver and are outside of Colorado. So, I will only be talking about four resorts that are close to Denver and that are for the Epic pass. So, with that, let’s get into it!

Breckendrige is my personal favorite resort. I love that there is a big town. The Breckenridge town may not be at the base of the mountain, but it is BIG. When I say big, I mean it. There are also amazing restaurants, like Yo Mama’s Tacos, and Mi Casa. Those are just a few of the amazing restaurants and there are plenty more. As for the terrain on the mountain, there is a perfect mix of easier terrain, and harder stuff too. If you are looking for a hike with some cliffs, Imperial Bowl has you covered! Looking for some easier terrain or a nice, blue groomer? Don’t worry! Peak’s seven, eight, and nine have just the thing.

Vail is an amazing place. It is so big, it could take DAYS to cover all of the terrain. Also, there are nice base areas at multiple parts of the mountain, such as Vail Village and Lions Head. With the mountain being big, it means there should probably be some good restaurants. There are some great restaurants, such as Vendetta’s Pizza, which is in Vail Village. There is also Two Elk Lodge, and that is at the top of the mountain. Vail is a great mountain, but is a little bit better for those who seek out the steep and deep. Vail is known for their Legendary Back Bowls, and there is a reason they are legendary! There is some easy terrain at Vail, but I recommend coming to Vail if you are a little bit more skilled, as there are some chair lifts that go under cliffs! I must say, it is really, really cool!

Beaver Creek-

Beaver Creek is the furthest resort from Denver out of the resorts I am listing today. But, there is a light at the end of the tunnel as Beaver Creek is very luxurious! Pre-COVID, there was a candy cabin where you could get a very wide variety of candy! Not only that, but sometimes people would hand out freshly baked chocolate chip cookies! Yum!! But, Beaver Creek is a little on the pricey side. The terrain at Beaver Creek is in the middle with fun blue groomers and difficult terrain if you choose. There is a fairly big town at the base of the mountain with an ice skating rink, so you don’t even have to ski and you would be really happy to be at Beaver Creek.

Keystone is the smallest out of the mountains I am talking about today, but that’s okay! Keystone is directed towards families, as there is a snow playground mid-way up the mountain. The park is made out of snow, and it is really quite amazing. Keystone practically has no town, but there is a delicious place to eat on the mountain, LaBonte’s Barbecue.  Keystone has some harder terrain if you seek it out, but there is mostly easy and intermediate terrain. Keystone is the closest out of all of the ski mountains I’m talking about today, which is a huge plus.

Overall, I think Breakendrige is the best ski mountain to ski at. I love it so much, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like any of the other mountains. I love to ski, and all of these mountains are great for doing the thing I love. I hope you enjoyed this article.
