North Carolina Tornado Kills 3 and Injures 10

Graham Leigh, writer

A tornado struck a small town in North Carolina killing 3 people and injuring 10. The tornado was connected to some of the severely cold weather that was happening all over the country. People in Brunswick county didnt know that they would be getting a storm until they heard thunder and lightning. Residents in Brunswick said that all of a sudden the noises stopped and they could just hear the wind and the floors begin to shake. Then residents say there was a pop in the sky and it sounded like a train was running straight at them. The twister tore hundreds of homes apart and destroyed lots of trees and power lines. The Tornado reached wind speeds of 160 miles per hour. It touched down for 30 minutes and carved a giant path of 22 miles. This twister was 825 feet wide, almost 200 feet larger than the normal twister which is 660 feet wide. This uprooted a mobile home and carried it for a couple of miles before it finally puttered out and stopped.
