Trump Impeached… Again

Trump Impeached... Again

On December 18, 2019 President Trump joined a very exclusive group of presidents who have been impeached. Only three presidents have ever been impeached: Andrew Johnson in 1868, Bill Clinton in 1998, and now Donald Trump in 2019. But now Trump has made history by being the first president to ever get impeached twice and he did it in one term.

Impeachment is when the president has been accused of doing something unconstitutional or so wrong that the people of the United States no longer want them as their president. When that happens the house votes on whether or not to impeach the president. If the president gets impeached then the senate still needs to vote to remove him from office.

He was first impeached by the House of Representatives in December 2019 on charges of obstruction of Congress over his dealings with Ukraine about political rival Joe Biden. The second time he was impeached because he is supposedly supporting protesters who stormed the capitol building. Although Trump has publicly denounced them he is also on record saying things like ‘fight much harder’ against ‘bad people’ and ‘show strength’ at the Capitol.  The big question now is will he get removed from office just a couple of weeks early and what would that really accomplish?
