The False Prince: By Jennifer A. Nielsen

Zoey Holmquist-Kuhn, Writer

Sage is an orphan, he runs, steals and sneaks to get by. Though he lives in an orphanage, food is still scarce and he must be a thief to stay alive. One day, a nobleman takes him from the orphanage and brings him to a grand house with three other orphaned boys. He tells them that they must be trained to fool the monarchy into thinking that they are the long dead prince. They cannot back out and if you aren’t chosen after a fortnight of schooling, you’re dead.

This thrilling story takes many turns, you may think you know the ending but you’d be wrong. The unpredictable twists and wonderful writing style combine to form a neatly woven story with beautiful language and a daring plot. The clever characters put you in their footsteps as you follow close behind on their adventures. Sage’s journey will hook you and keep you reading until the very end. While reading you can truly feel for the characters, absorbing their thoughts and feelings and while the book is in your hands, accepting them as your own. This book is rich with action and drama and perfect for anyone who likes a medieval setting. Though this story isn’t for the youngest people it is great to read and have read aloud. Jennifer Nielsen has created a world in which anyone who loves adventure would thrive.
