Of Black Suits and Businesspeople

Jack McCall, Writer

What happened?

What happened to something that somebody needed being their issue?

When did that change?

No longer can you just get your basic needs.

A roll of bread is no longer negotiated over with words.

That’s just simply not how it works anymore.

That one roll of bread.

It is fought over with fire, guns.

Briefcases of money and deals;

Deals made by men and women in black suits and ties and dresses.

And who does that roll of bread go to?

Not me

Not you

Those who need it the least.

Those who could not care less.

And yet millions starve on the streets

while millions of rolls just like that one

End up in the hands of the fat cats

And the cycle continues.

What happened?
