Matilda

Matilda

Taylor Holthus, Writer

Matilda, the book by Roald Dahl is a Fantastic book! It is super interesting and it makes you want to keep reading until your head hurts. I would recommend this book for 9 year olds through 15 year olds. I would give this book a good 10/10 review too.

Matilda is a young girl who is mistreated by her rude, selfish, and messy parents and older brother. She is very very smart but her parents do not take her to school. One day, Matilda starts at a new school that seems all fun and nice but when she meets the principal, everything changes. Miss Trunchbull, the principal, is also very unkind. She is very strict and hates kids. Matilda’s Father tells Miss Trunchbull that Matilda is a bad girl and so Miss Trunchbull dislikes her the most. Mrs. Honey though, is a kind loving teacher who understands Matilda and wants to move her up a grade because she is so smart but Miss Trunchbull takes it that Mrs. Honey doesn’t like Matilda and makes Matilda stay with Mrs. Honey. One day, Matilda makes a glass fall on Miss Trunchbull with her mind. She practices day after day to get good with her magic. When mrs. Honey invites Matilda for tea, she finds out something very unexpected. One of the best quotes in the book is “We saw Miss Trunchbull grab a girl by the pigtails and throw her over the playground fence!”.

Roald Dahl the creator of many more books than this were books about a spy, ace fighter pilot, chocolate historian, and a medical inventor and as you know, an author. Dahl has sold more than 250 million copies of his books. He also served in the Royal Air Force during the Second World War. Dahl has made more than Matilda. In fact he made a whole bunch of kids books like Fantastic Mr. Fox, The witches, going Solo, and my favorite The Twits.
