With COVID-19 our thanksgiving plans have been canceled or changed and we can’t see family or friends. During COVID-19 lockdowns we have had to change plans and cancel trips. Even if we want to see our friends and family we have to follow guidelines and find ways to see them and have good food too. Even with guidelines you can still have a good meal and see your family even if it is not in person.

Even though we have to cancel Thanksgiving meals in person this year we can still do our best to keep up the tradition. If your family doesn’t always see the rest of your family, like your cousins and grandparents, you should set up a Zoom call so you can still see them. A big part of Thanksgiving is the big meals with traditional food and desserts.

Many people like to have very traditional meals when it comes to thanksgiving but you can also find new ways to make your favorite part of your Thanksgiving meals. An alternative to traditional mash potatoes is sweet potato mash.

Sweet potato mash:

2 sweet potatoes

1 cup of applesauce

1 tsp of cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Mash the sweet potatoes until there are very few lumps.
  2. Mix in the applesauce until combined.
  3. Mix in the cinnamon so that there is cinnamon throughout the mashed potatoes.
