Lakers Win Big

The Los Angeles Lakers win the NBA championship for the 17th time now tied with the Celtics. Sunday night October 11, 2020, all eyes were on the Lakers to see if they could close out the NBA season and take home the championship. A devastating loss to the Lakers occurred midway through the NBA season with the death of Kobe Bryant. Kobe had been playing for the Lakers for 20 years before retiring in 2016. January 26, Kobe died in a helicopter crash outside of Calabasas, California. This was a huge loss to the Lakers franchise and to the players themselves. The players rallied among one another and pulled off one of the better seasons we have seen from them in the past few years. The Lakers have pulled off an amazing season, and this win is the cherry on top. Rajon Rondo, a former Celtics player became the 2nd player to ever win a title with the Lakers and Celtics. Rondo won with the Celtics in 2008, and now again in 2020 with the Lakers.

The Lakers had something to prove, and Lebron James after winning said, “and I want my damn respect to.” James was having an amazing season and people were hating on him, he deserves much more credit, and he was the main reason the Lakers won this year. The Lakers have always been one of the best basketball franchises and now once again, they are asserting their dominance. This year’s season was a very strange one, The NBA created a “bubble” at the Disney World in Orlando, Florida, to protect all of the players, and was the main reason they could still play the rest of the finals. The NBA season may begin as soon as early December, and many people are wondering if the bubble will stay in place or if fans will be able to go back to games. This year’s season was crazy but ended up kick-starting the rivalry between the Lakers and the Celtics.
