2020-2021 Season Full of Injuries

2020-2021 Season Full of Injuries

Max Donnelly, Writer

The 2021 NFL season in which there were a lot of injuries so far including the NFL stars Sequon Barkley, Christian McCaffrey, Nick Bosa, Courtland Sutton, and Drew Lock and many more. A lot of those injuries happened in week 2 of the NFL. There have been plenty of more injuries in the other weeks of the NFL. The 49ers got a lot of injuries done to them and started blaming the grass on the field they played on. They complained it was sticky and Wide Receiver Deebo Samuel shared his opinion about the turf a few hours after the game. The injuries weren’t just bad for the teams it is bad for people who spent money on fantasy football and lost their star player for their team. Some of the injuries may only last a few weeks but some injuries may last a year or more.

According to ESPN the worst of the injuries were Nick Bosa who tore his ACL and the year before he was in the pro bowl.. Also Sequon Barkley who suffered a torn ACL which was so bad for the already bad New York Giants because he would have to be out all season. Sequon Barkley also got an injury last in which after he came back very strong. Also Nick Bosa who also tore his ACL. Christian McCaffery plays for the Carolina Panthers and many people would consider him as the best Running Back in the league, and was the top fantasy football prospect and the high ankle sprain caused him to be out 4-6 weeks from week 2. Which led to Running back Mike Davis to take over for those weeks for the Carolina Panthers. Dak Presscot who plays for the cowboys dislocated his ankle and you could see his ankle was out of place. It was disgusting for many people. Tony Dungy calls his injury “might be a blessing in disgust.”

An injury that was very unexpected was Tyrod Taylor and he was getting a pain killing shot and the doctor accidentally punctured his lungs while injecting the shot. That left Justin Herbert to play for the Chargers and he is doing great so they let him keep playing and benched Tyrod Taylor even though he was okay to play.  It’s not just injuries that make players not play, they also can’t play because of sickness. Odell Beckham was sent home with an unknown sickness and is being tested for covid-19. Even though the NFL is advancing the technology in protection it still can’t stop all of the injuries from happening.
