The holidays are coming up soon! Pumpkin is always a great flavor to put in desserts and even food. There are so many different ways that you can put pumpkin in food. Some might include pumpkin pie, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin cheesecake and so much more.
One great pumpkin recipe would be pumpkin spice donut holes. They are small and good for family or little desserts. These would be good to make in a fryer or a donut hole maker that you could buy on Amazon or another online store.
for 8 servings
2 cups flour
¾ cup of sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
1 teaspoon salt
1 ¼ cups pumpkin puree
2 tablespoons melted butter
oil, for frying
¾ cup of sugar
3 tablespoons pumpkin pie spice
Note: You can make your own pumpkin pie spice by mixing 2 tablespoons cinnamon, 1 tablespoon ginger, 1 tablespoon nutmeg, and ½ tablespoon cloves; use 2 teaspoons in the dough, and 3 tablespoons in the topping mixture.
In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, pumpkin pie spice, and salt.
In a separate bowl, mix together pumpkin puree, egg, and butter.
Pour wet mixture into dry mixture and stir together with a rubber spatula until fully mixed. Then set aside.
Heat oil in a frying pan to 325˚F (160˚C).
While oil is heating, use your hands to shape and roll the pumpkin donut dough into balls. (Greasing your hands with oil will make this process much easier).
Fry the dough balls until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes. (For best results, fry only 3-4 at a time).
Drain them on a paper towel and immediately transfer to a bowl of the pumpkin pie spice-sugar mix. Gently toss to coat.
This is a delicious recipe and I recommend trying it. These are definitely good for the holidays and for a little snack when you are hungry.
