The Big Peak Fire

The Cameron Peak Fire has burned 25 homes in Larimer County. The fire is located 15 miles southwest of Red Feathers Lake. It has been burning since August 15th. This fire has destroyed 54 structures and 25 homes. Heat and wind caused the fire to grow 128, 149 acres, there is nearly 1,047 personnel fighting the fire. And now the fire has damaged 95 structures so far. Today this fire has burned 131, 231 acres, and was 44 % contained this morning, Also this fire was very active this morning. This fire is the third-largest fire in Colorado history. When fire activity picked up in several areas along the highway 14 corridor around Thursday afternoon firefighters had to shift focus from containment to structure protection.  The fire weather conditions are anticipated through Saturday and Sunday. The fire was reported on Aug 13 and is still under investigation.
