Loveland Ski Resort

Loveland is a fun, challenging and convenient ski resort. Loveland is about a 45 minute drive from Denver not including traffic. However, there is no town at the resort and no places to stay the night. Loveland is 13% beginner, 41% intermediate and 46% advanced skiing. The lodge has food that is reasonably priced and decent.

Some of the lifts are sort of terrifying and some of them have no safety bar. There is even a resident porcupine that can be seen from the Ptarmigan lift. Loveland has a ski team and they often host races and other events. One of the best things about Loveland is that it is usually not that busy, even on weekends. It is NOT on the EPIC or IKON pass. There are several warming huts with wood stoves and you can even bring your own food to barbecue (try that at Vail!). Loveland has 1,800 skiable acres of land. In comparison, Breckenridge has 2,908 skiable acres. Loveland is fairly cheap compared to other resorts such as Beaver Creek and Aspen. Loveland is a local’s dream mountain.
