Joey Chestnut Comes to Colorado

Joey Chestnut, the world’s number 1 competitive eating champion, made his way to The Colorado State Fair for a sloppier eating contest on September 5th, 2020. Joey was trying to beat last year’s sloppier eating champion, Darron Breeden.

Chestnut came up just short of beating Geoff Esper. Chestnut was able to eat a whopping 32 whole sloppers! But unfortunately for Joey Chestnut, he did not win this year’s competition, instead Geoff Esper won. Joey came in 2nd overall for 2020. Joey ate a grand total of 33 sloppers, but Geoff Esper ate a grand total of 37.5 sloppers and was crowned champion for the 2020 sloppier eating challenge in Pueblo, Colorado at the state fair. Darron Breeden ended up in 5th place with 21.5 sloppers, well behind the 28 that he ate in the 2019 contest.

What is a slopper anyway? It is a cheeseburger smothered in green chile. Each competitor gets 8 mins to eat all these sloppers. Here are the top 6 results for the 2020 sloppier eating challenge, (1) Geoff Esper 37.5 (2) Joey Chestnut 32 (3) Nick Wehry 28 (4) Gideon Oji 23.5 (5) Darron Breeden 21.5 (6) Big Sexy Beard 12. Geoff Esper got a World Record this year of 37.5 sloppers in 8 mins.
