The Cavern of Words

The Cavern of Words

Declan Lombardo, Writer

One night a boy named Joseph was wandering the streets when suddenly a hole came out from under him and he fell deep deep deep down into the depths of the Earth. When he came to his senses, he was so petrified with fear by what he saw. He had come face to face with a mountain of skulls, one mile high and two miles across. It was massive, Almost as big as the cavern itself, which seemed like it was 1 mile high and 3 miles across. He realized this place must be haunted but after a while he realized it was not haunted with zombies or skeletons or spiders or ghosts or anything of the sort, it was haunted with letters, letters that were alive. Words, Paragraphs, Sentences everything, everything that was written was alive. He managed to accidentally awoke them by moving too fast. They attacked him, for they needed food and they hadn’t had any for centuries. Joseph ran as fast as he could and managed to find that, when he came out of the Cavern that only had one mile between it and the Earth’s mantle. It was light, and the letters and words in paragraphs had stopped chasing him. He was on the surface although, in a desert he saw a town near him. He was safe.
