Coraline Movie Review

Coraline Movie Review

Kylie Driggers, Writer

Coraline is a (depending on the kind of person) scary movie that kids 5+ should watch! It’s based on a girl named Coraline, she has blue hair, a raincoat, and wanders around Ashland, Oregon. Coraline finds a doll identical to her that her friend Wybie had oddly given to her, she also comes across a cat that Wybie kind of owns. There is a tall acrobat named Mr. Bobinsky who lives on the top of The Pink Palace. She soon discovers a “perfect” world through a little door but doesn’t know what she’s in for. The “perfect” world is called the other world, it has an other mother, other Wybie, other Father, other everyone that the normal world would have. They live in a place that is called “The Pink Palace” except Wybie. Wybie isn’t allowed to live in The Pink Palace because his grandma (Miss Lovat) had her sister go missing at The Pink Palace when they were younger. Dakota Fanning plays Coraline, Teri Hatcher as The Other Mother/normal mother, John Hodgman as The Other Father/normal father, Robert Bailey Jr. as Wybie Lovat, and Keith David as the Cat. (There are many more amazing actors that I had not listed!!!). Coraline is an amazing movie to watch during the Fall time because it puts you into a comforting mood. Coraline is an AMAZING MOVIE! On the rotten tomato meter rating, it has 26 rotten tomatoes. Some people say that the movie should not be watched by 6 and under, some say it SHOULD be 18+ (which I think is dumb). I think depending on the person and how they handle scary things (coming from me who watched it when I was like 3 or 4, I wasn’t really scared of it). There isn’t really an actual age rating, it’s just depending on the person. Also many people (including me) LOVE Coraline, it never gets old says many (including me), many people also say that they believe there are many Easter eggs and hidden things in the movie ( so if you watch it pay close attention!!!)  I would give it a 1,000,000/10! Give the movie a try if you haven’t already!
