Teachers at McAuliffe Catch Covid-19

Izabella Gonzalez, Author

McAuliffe teachers have recently caught covid restricting them from their teaching duties. On January 21, 2023, most of McAuliffe’s teachers were at school and were all perfectly fine, teaching their students as they normally would. Then on January 24, 2023, many teachers were gone. What could have happened to them? Why were they all gone? How could so many teachers catch COVID within a 2-day time span? Many questions were asked yet most were not answered.

COVID cases were really high in the year 2020, slowly over time they slowed down but some people were still getting sick. Now in 2023 cases have gone up again, specifically with many teachers. Many substitutes had to fill in for the teachers that caught COVID which was really unexpected, leading to not many people being able to fill in so quickly. Not only did it affect the teachers themselves, but also affected the students a lot. Many kids like to fool around and not do their work when substitutes are around. This situation could have a major impact on the students learning and it can later show on quizzes or tests given to the students. Some teachers then took a week´s rest and came back fully prepared and better than ever the next week. While many kids complained, it was time for the teachers to come back and make the students learn again.

Overall, we were all glad when the teachers came back to McAuliffe, although it was fun to have subs almost every day.
