31K Road Rage Driver Reports in CO Last Year

February 24, 2023
Colorado State Patrol (CSP) reported increased road rage drivers in Denver, CO in 2022 because the drivers that were drunk became reckless and other citizens called in to report the driver’s actions.
CSP had said its emergency dispatchers answered about 57,900 calls to its program in 2022. The aggressive driving reports were up by approximately 4.5% over 2021.
The CSP received 57,899 calls during the year and roughly 54% of the calls were related to road ragers. The citizens said that people were reportedly cutting them off and trying to run them off the road. If the victims responded angrily, the drunk driver would do any of the following: tailgating, honking in anger, making angry gestures, passing on the right, showing a weapon, excessively speeding, weaving in and out of traffic, and getting out of the vehicle to confront another driver.
