Firefighters attempted to pry open the door, and others sprayed the fire attempting to neutralize it. Then, the engine exploded, killing a firefighter that was trying to open the door and Barney. His death is a heartbreaking reminder of how fragile life can be and how quickly things can change.

The man who crashed into him now faces up to 25 years in prison and a $350,000 fine. He will be in court on Monday.
